A good children’s book does more than tell a story. It opens a door.

One moment a child is sitting on the sofa, tucked into bed, or curled up in a quiet corner. The next, they are swimming past colourful sea creatures with a dolphin, peeping under leaves with a worm, or looking out across the savannah with a giraffe.

That is the heart of our children’s books in the website shop. Each story follows a friendly animal character as they explore a part of the natural world. The books are created especially for children aged 5 to 8 plus, with simple adventures, curious questions, and plenty of room for imagination.

The Adventure Crew is growing, and each character has their own world to discover. From oceans and forests to ponds, jungles, flowers, reptiles, and bugs, these stories are designed to help young readers notice nature in a fun and memorable way.

Physical editions are also planned for Amazon soon, so families will be able to enjoy the books as printed copies as well as through the website shop.

A nature-loving book collection for curious young readers

Children between 5 and 8 are full of questions.

Why do crabs walk sideways? What lives at the bottom of the sea? How do bees find flowers? What is hiding in the forest? Why do frogs like ponds?

These are exactly the kinds of questions that make stories feel alive. The Adventure Crew books use friendly characters to guide children through different habitats and animal groups in a way that feels playful rather than heavy.

The aim is simple: to make reading feel like an adventure.

Each book focuses on one main character and one part of the natural world. That gives children a clear path through the story. They meet a friendly guide, explore a setting, and discover creatures, plants, or habitats along the way.

The stories are built around:

  • Animal characters children can remember

  • Nature themes that spark curiosity

  • Gentle learning through adventure

  • Simple language for early independent readers

The collection is ideal for children who enjoy animals, outdoor exploring, colourful characters, and stories that feel warm and welcoming.

Meet Debby the Dolphin and Craig the Crab

The sea is full of mystery, movement, and surprises. That makes it a perfect place for children’s stories.

Debby the Dolphin explores underwater sea creatures

Debby the Dolphin is a cheerful ocean explorer. She swims through the underwater world, meeting sea creatures and discovering the wonders of life beneath the waves.

Her adventures can help children imagine coral reefs, shoals of fish, shells, seaweed, and the many animals that live in the sea. Debby’s world is bright, flowing, and full of movement, which makes it exciting for young readers who love the ocean.

Through Debby, children can begin to think about questions such as:

  • What animals live underwater?

  • How do sea creatures move?

  • What makes the ocean different from land?

  • Why is the sea home to so many living things?

Debby is a friendly guide for children who are fascinated by dolphins, fish, and the hidden world below the surface.

Craig the Crab explores the sea bed

Craig the Crab takes the adventure lower, right down to the sea bed.

While Debby swims through the water, Craig explores the sandy, rocky world below. His story gives children a different view of the ocean. The sea bed is full of places to hide, crawl, dig, and search.

Craig’s adventures are perfect for children who like little details. He can discover shells, pebbles, seaweed, tiny creatures, and all the busy life that happens close to the sand.

Craig brings a slower, more curious type of exploring. He shows that some of the most interesting discoveries happen when you look closely.

Debby and Craig introduce young readers to two very different ocean adventures.

Explore the jungle and treetops with Penny and Molly

The jungle is full of sound, colour, leaves, wings, branches, and hidden movement. It is a wonderful setting for stories because there is always something new to spot.

Penny the Parrot explores the jungle

Penny the Parrot is bright, curious, and full of character. She explores the jungle from branch to branch, meeting creatures and noticing the busy world around her.

A jungle story gives children the chance to imagine towering trees, colourful birds, buzzing insects, twisting vines, and animals hiding among the leaves. Penny’s point of view works beautifully because parrots can see the jungle from above and within the branches.

Penny can introduce children to ideas such as:

  • Jungle animals and birds

  • The sounds of a rainforest setting

  • Bright colours in nature

  • How animals live among trees and plants

Penny’s book is a cheerful choice for children who love bold characters and lively settings.

Molly the Monkey explores the treetops

Molly the Monkey takes readers even higher.

Her adventures happen in the treetops, where branches become pathways and leaves create secret hiding places. Molly can swing, climb, balance, and look out over the jungle from above.

The treetop world is exciting because it feels like a playground in the sky. It also gives children a chance to think about animals that live above the ground instead of on it.

Molly is playful and active, making her a lovely character for children who enjoy movement, mischief, and brave little discoveries. Her story celebrates curiosity and confidence, while still keeping the adventure gentle and age-appropriate.

Discover the savannah, bugs, flowers, and reptiles

Some of the Adventure Crew explore wide open spaces. Others look closely at the tiny worlds beneath our feet. Together, they help show children that nature is interesting at every size.

Gerry the Giraffe explores the savannah

Gerry the Giraffe is the perfect guide to the savannah. With his long neck and gentle nature, he can see across the grasslands and spot animals from far away.

His world is open, warm, and wide. Children can imagine golden grass, tall trees, distant animals, and bright skies. Gerry’s story can introduce young readers to the idea that different animals live in different habitats because they need different things.

Gerry stands tall, but his adventures can feel calm and thoughtful. He is a lovely character for children who enjoy gentle stories with a sense of wonder.

Larry the Lizard explores reptiles

Larry the Lizard introduces young readers to reptiles in a friendly, approachable way.

Reptiles can be exciting for children because they look so different from mammals and birds. They may have scales, long tails, quick movements, or a love of warm sunny spots.

Larry’s story can explore rocks, dry places, leaves, and hiding spots. He can help children notice how reptiles move, where they rest, and what makes them special.

For children who like snakes, lizards, and unusual animals, Larry is likely to be a favourite.

William the Worm explores bugs

William the Worm helps children look down, into the soil, under leaves, and around the garden.

Bugs can be fascinating for young readers because they are small, busy, and often easy to find outdoors. William’s adventures can encourage children to notice beetles, ants, caterpillars, spiders, and other tiny creatures that share the world with us.

His book is a reminder that adventure does not always need to happen far away. Sometimes it begins in a patch of soil or under a stone.

William is a brilliant character for curious children who love collecting facts, spotting tiny creatures, and asking what is wriggling, crawling, or hiding nearby.

Barry the Bee explores flowers

Barry the Bee brings children into the colourful world of flowers.

His adventures can move from petal to petal, through gardens, meadows, and flowerbeds. Barry helps children see flowers as more than something pretty. They are busy places where insects feed, rest, and travel.

A bee character also opens the door to gentle learning about pollination, without turning the story into a lesson. Children can follow Barry’s journey and begin to understand that flowers and insects are connected.

Barry’s book is ideal for children who enjoy gardens, bright colours, and cheerful outdoor adventures.

Freya the Frog explores the pond

Freya the Frog is a pond explorer.

Her world is full of lily pads, ripples, reeds, dragonflies, tadpoles, and little splashes. A pond may look quiet at first, but Freya knows it is full of life.

Through Freya’s adventure, children can discover that ponds are home to many creatures, both above and below the water. Frogs are also a wonderful way to introduce change and growth, as children may already know that frogs begin life as tadpoles.

Freya’s story can help young readers slow down and look carefully. Ponds reward patience. The longer you watch, the more you see.

Visit the forest with Ben!

Ben the Bear explores the forest

Ben the Bear leads children into the forest.

Forests are rich story worlds. They have tall trees, fallen leaves, moss, berries, birds, tracks, dens, and quiet paths. Ben can explore all of these in a way that feels safe, warm, and inviting.

A bear character brings comfort as well as adventure. Ben can be brave, kind, curious, and gentle. His forest world may include woodland animals, changing seasons, and the simple joy of walking among trees.

Ben’s book is a strong choice for children who love woodland stories, bedtime adventures, and cosy characters.

Why character-led books work so well for ages 5 to 8 plus

Children in this age range are developing quickly as readers. Some still enjoy being read to every night. Some are starting to read alone. Many do both.

Character-led stories work well because they give children something familiar to hold onto. Once they meet Debby, Craig, Penny, Molly, Gerry, William, Barry, Larry, Freya, or Ben, they can return to that character again in their imagination.

A strong character helps young readers:

  • Follow the story more easily

  • Remember the setting

  • Feel connected to the adventure

  • Build confidence with reading

  • Ask questions about the natural world

The Adventure Crew also gives children variety. A child who loves the sea may start with Debby or Craig. A child who prefers funny, active characters may choose Molly. A child who enjoys gardens may be drawn to Barry or William.

Every book has its own setting, but together they create a wider world of exploration.

The best nature stories for children often begin with one simple question: what can we discover if we look a little closer?

A growing collection with more to come

The current Adventure Crew books are created for children aged 5 to 8 plus, but the collection is planned to grow.

There will be more books for older readers in the future, giving children the chance to keep exploring as their reading skills and interests develop. That means the world of the Adventure Crew can grow with them, from simple early adventures to richer stories for more confident readers.

Growing Up Collection

Growing up comes with a lot of changes, questions and sometimes confusing moments. This upcoming collection of 13+ books is being created to give young people a friendly, reassuring and easy-to-understand guide to topics including puberty, changing bodies, emotions, confidence, friendships, relationships, wellbeing and everyday challenges. Each book will explain things clearly and honestly, helping young readers understand what’s happening as they grow and giving them practical knowledge they can carry into their teenage years and beyond.

Physical books are also coming soon to Amazon. This will make it easier for families, gift buyers, schools, and book lovers to enjoy printed copies. There is something special about holding a children’s book in your hands, turning the pages, and returning to favourite illustrations again and again.

For now, the website shop is the home of the collection. It is where readers can meet the characters, choose their favourite adventures, and begin building their own Adventure Crew bookshelf.

Which Adventure Crew character will become a favourite?

Every child reads in their own way. Some fall in love with sea stories. Some want jungles, monkeys, and parrots. Some are happiest with bugs, bees, frogs, and woodland paths.

That is why the Adventure Crew has so many different characters and habitats. Each book offers a new doorway into nature, with a friendly guide ready to lead the way.

Debby the Dolphin explores underwater sea creatures. Craig the Crab searches the sea bed. Penny the Parrot discovers the jungle. Molly the Monkey climbs through the treetops. Gerry the Giraffe looks across the savannah. William the Worm investigates bugs. Barry the Bee visits flowers. Larry the Lizard meets reptiles. Freya the Frog explores the pond. Ben the Bear wanders through the forest.

Together, they invite children to read, wonder, and notice the living world around them. The adventure is only just beginning.
